Measure from door threshold to ground and use door width to determine correct step assembly for your RV.Features:500 lb. weight capacityHow To Measure:. Make sure your unit is level. Measure the height from the top of the threshold to the ground. Make sure the rise of your threshold is between 3/4″ to 5/8″. If it is greater or less than either of these measurements, the door may not close properly. Locate the sticker on the back of your door. If there is a sticker, it should indicate your door width. If there is no sticker, measure inside from flange to flange and add 2″ to get door width. If you have a screen door that has a storm window, these types of doors tend to be thicker and a small section of the door will need to be removed to allow the steps to lock in place. If the door has a strut to keep it from opening all the way, the step will hit the door and the strut must be removed. If there is trim on the back side of the lip of the door jamb, it will need to be notched. The skirting below the threshold that surrounds the existing step cannot stick out more than 3/4″. If you are purchasing the optional handrail – if there is anything on the left hand side of the unit closer than 33″, as you face the door, then the handrail would have to be removed. You must have a gap of 3/8″ from the bottom of your door to the top of the threshold to allow room for the hinge plate. Without this clearance your door will not have sufficient room to close while the steps are down.
